NEDCo’s operations in the regions are managed by five branch offices designated as Area Offices in the following cities: Sunyani, Techiman, Tamale, Wa and Bolgatanga. The head office of NEDCo is strategically located in Tamale, the Capital of the Northern Region. The Head Office administration is now headed by a Managing Director, supported by five functional Managers namely Technical, Human Resource, Finance, Commercial and Real Estate Managers. There is also an Audit Head who reports administratively to Managing Director.
Each Area is headed by a Manager supported by an Engineer, Finance Officer, Commercial Officer, IT Officer and a Human Resource Officer.
In pursuant of the Power Sector Reforms, VRA Management has now taken the decision to operationalise NEDCo as a subsidiary with the following objectives:
- Make NEDCo economically viable and sustainable by attracting additional resources to finance its operations. In this arrangement, NEDCo will also be able to deal directly with multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, JICA, IMF, etc for financial support.
- Empower NEDCo to manage its own affairs more effectively by providing it with the right organizational structure and corresponding authority. Thus, NEDCo management will have the authority to take timely and appropriate decisions on customer issues and challenges to improve service delivery.
- Empower NEDCo to undertake procurement of its strategic equipment and spares, which are critical to efficient service delivery.
Managing Director has been appointed and he is currently overseeing the formation of the new NEDCo management team. A new Board of Directors is being constituted for NEDCo and the appointment of the Board Members will complete the resourcing of NEDCo to make it a more effective Distribution Company.
